Brock Roberts

Talented U23 Brock Roberts heads to Aussie for development and hard racing. Lots of learning going on in the first three months, including a couple of spills on both the road and track. We look forward to some of the write ups form Brock as he progresses.

Why cycling?

It was something off the wall. I think it takes a certain determination to become a professional and quite often only those who are on the path understand what an individual must go through to achieve measurable success. It is a sport that educates you on discipline, sacrifice and self-control. Honestly, it was just a stroke of luck that got me on the bike - I enjoyed it, loved the cut-throat nature of racing and the brutal miles required when training. Haven't looked back since

Using a 40km loop that starts and finishes at the PVG Winery & Vineyard,
there was plenty of action guaranteed in the 2008 Mudgee Scratch races.
The Division 2 & 3 races where contested over 80km, while the Division 1 did
and extra lap adding up to a distance of 120km.
Budget Forklifts went straight on the attack with Sam Moorhouse leading the
break through the first 2 KOM sprints, and putting plenty of pressure on the
large Division 1 field.

With riders of the calibre of multi National Champ Peter Milostic leading
the chase the bunch closed in on the leaders.
However a counter attack saw another group jump clear when the catch was
made, this time with a representative from 3 of the leading teams, with
Brock Roberts (Budget Forklifts), Nathan Page (KOM) and Tim Guy (FRF/NSWIS)
quickly establishing a commanding lead.Active Image
Having missed the split Bike King suffered back in the chase group with
Milostic forced to do a lot of the work.

While up front Brock Roberts made it a clean sweep of the KOM sprints for
Budget Forklifts when he took the third and final prime in the closing
stages of the race.
Tim Guy was the unlucky rider of the race suffering a problem in the last
10km and dropping out of the lead group.
This left KOM’s Nathan Page, and Budget Forklifts Brock Roberts to fight out
the major places, with the very strong Nathan Page too fast for Roberts in
the dash to the finish line, and young U19 rider Benjamin Hill jumping out
of the bunch to take third.
