Dion Neems
just wanted to share the exciting news…..
Firstly, Bella and I are very proud to have a National Champ in the
family! Dion won the National Club Championship for his age group over
Labour weekend. An awesome effort, especially after having blood poisoning
only two weeks before! Below is an extract of the final km’s from
the bikenz site.

Dion Neems, Counties Manukau, won an emotionally charged race in the
Masters 1 race. As he crossed the finish line, Unsure a few weeks ago
if he would be riding today, it was only in the last 15Kms of the 114
Kms that Neems and 2nd place Antony Gardiner (Hamilton Club) broke away
from the bunch. As he crossed the finish line Neems held up a photo
of his young daughter currently awaiting a liver transplant.
Secondly, Dion has been accepted as a live liver donor for Bella. All
going well, they both have their operations next Wednesday (07 Nov).
It will be a long day with Dion’s operation taking 4 hours, and
Bella’s 8 – 12 hours. Dion will be in intensive care over
night at Auckland City Hosp., and Bella 2-4 days in Starship. Baring
any complications, they both should be home after 10-14 days. The support
crew will no doubt get very fit going between the two patients!
We will keep you updated with progress as we can.
Love and cuddles
Fi, D and Bella
